Trains suspended on Kalka-Shimla line

Chandigarh-Manali National Highway to remain closed for 2 days

It is reported that all trains on the Kalka-Shimla heritage railway track have been suspended till August 6.

This move comes in the wake of landslides and bad road conditions due to incessant rainfall.

Reports also add that

After a week of heavy rainfall in Himachal and Haryana, rail and road routes have been damaged.

Officials added that due to heavy damage at more than 100 locations between Kalka and Solan,

particularly near Koti, Sonwara and in the Shivalik Hill belt, repairs are taking more time.

Landslides have been reported from two places, Koti and Solan,

where trees have blocked roads between Solan to Dharampur.

Plus, there are some other places in between where rail tracks have been damaged, due to which it has been decided that the movement of trains will be suspended for the next 3 weeks.

The track will be inspected,  After 21 days on August 6, before giving a green signal to the trains.

Currently, the plan that is in place is to run a local train between Shimla and Solan.
